Bent Mountain Christian Academy is devoted to a Christian worldview in all aspects of the academy, from the combination of classroom subjects and settings, the individualized scheduling for remediation or advancement, to the regular outdoor activities and picnic days. Bible, academic classes, and the twice-daily outdoor-centered physical education are some of the required subjects for all the students. The basic foundational skills are emphasized in all grades (math, phonics, spelling, handwriting, and reading). Children are individually tested for placement in reading and math.

BMCA is fully accredited by the National Private Schools Accreditation Group (NPSAG), and is an affiliate of Renewanation. Renewanation has been most beneficial to our academy from the early planning stages. They have provided encouragement, motivation, networking for events, advice, mentoring, contacts, and grants.

BMCA is also a member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).

The original intent of the group of community members was to continue a community-supported school on Bent Mountain, emphasizing a Christian worldview. The Lord expanded our vision, however, bringing students and teachers from four counties and from up to 50 miles away to be a part of the rural Bent Mountain Christian Academy. In the fall of 2014, BMCA found a new home in Roanoke City inside Calvary Memorial Church on Colonial Avenue across from Towers Mall.

Our school has a future goal of expanding to a larger school facility and incorporating organized sports into our offerings.
