When Bent Mountain Elementary closed years ago, the local community was devastated.  In response, the community members decided to open their own school and decided on a private, Christian school instead of a charter school.  The school opened its doors in 2010.  Originally the school offered K-8th grades, but expanded to include high school grades in 2015.

After four years at Lawrence Memorial Church on Bent Mountain, the school decided to move to a location in Roanoke City in 2014.  They found a place in their current location inside Calvary Memorial Church on Colonial Avenue across from Towers Mall.  While the location of the school changed, its mission did not.  And as the school continues to grow, our hope is to find a
larger, more permanent facility in the Roanoke community. 

 

For the 2019-2020 academic year, Bent Mountain Christian Academy will have the advantage of three campuses.

Our main campus is conveniently located inside Calvary Memorial Church on Colonial Avenue in Roanoke, Virginia.  This facility offers recently updated classrooms, two of which open directly to a courtyard used during pleasant weather by students for lunch and outdoor recreational activities. It also has two fully equipped kitchens on the grounds for cooking classes, an indoor gym area, and chapel.

One day a week we will enjoy the benefits of other campuses. In the warmer months, we will be in the wonderful atmosphere of the Bent Mountain Community Center (formerly Bent Mountain Elementary).  This location is blessed to be surrounded by the beauty of Bent Mountain and allows the students to have access to many outdoor resources, such as a full playground, pavilion, hiking paths, and other amenities.  Inside the school building, students and teachers enjoy large airy classrooms, gym, stage, and a commercial kitchen.  The Bent Mountain Library also adjoins the property.

In the cooler months, we have the privilege of being on the campus of King’s Christian Academy’s facility off King Street in Roanoke. We are looking forward to the Christian relationship with this new academy.
